SNOW!!!!!

Oh the snow! So today it started snowing while I was at school and at first I was bummed when I looked out the window and saw all the white. I am SO done with winter.....but the reality is we live in Wisconsin and it's only February 3rd, so guess what.....it's winter! Deal with it!  I figured I needed to buck up and not be depressed about something I can't control, like the weather.  So, I changed my attitude and saw the snow for what it is.....beautiful and peaceful.  I was lucky enough (that's right....lucky enough) to have recess duty today.  The wind wasn't blowing, the snow was falling so thick and there was a quiet peace about the outside world.  The peace only lasted for about 10 seconds while I was outside with the first 4 boys from my class. They actually stopped and enjoyed the silence with me. Then, one of my girls came bolting outside, excited by the snow....the peacefulness was gone and the excitement began.  Soon there were 160 students outside having fun, making snow angles and delighted by the new powder.

As the flakes fell on my dark coat I was able to see the awesome symmetry in the snowflakes and their intricate design. I showed a few kids near to me and they thought it was awesome so they too started looking at their mittens and coats to view the freshly fallen flakes.  So cool!

When I picked up Adam he immediately asked if we could shovel....my response, sure thing! We had a blast shoveling and throwing the snow around.  Of course, I took more pictures than actually shoveled (we saved that for Erik to do!) but it was amazing to watch Adam have so much fun with this nuisance we call snow!

Even though I grumbled about it at first, the freshly fallen snow made me happier than I already was. The drive took a little longer but yet there is something to be said for snow having the power to force everyone (well at least most drivers) to slow down a bit, be safe and take it easy.  Too often I am barreling down 35 to get to Kathy's and then get home to do what....the same old thing. It was nice to have a change of pace....a slower pace.

Here are some of my favorite pics from this afternoon:
My little helper! So happy!!!!

Of course, hot chocolate was the next logical step :)
