July Weather

Well, the storms are on the way. I am hoping they pass quickly but they look pretty fierce on the news. It's getting dark, so I doubt I'll get any good pictures. It's River Falls Days here in town and when I go outside I can still hear the bands downtown going strong....

Hen and Chicks

My garden

This is a picture of my front garden in mid-June. I planted all perennials here in hopes that they will return each year and save me some work. My mom helped me pick out a good assortment of plants and flowers. I already had the Hostas but I also added Columbine, Dianthus (Frosty Fire and Clavelina), Saliva, Creeping Phlox, and a Hen and Chick plant. So far everything is growing really well. I have a bird feeder in the center of the garden and seeds are frequently dropped and begin to spot by one of the Phlox. I try to weed as much as I can around the Phlox but it is looking trembled on. Probably because a chipmunk and squirrel love to get to the fallen seeds and go by way of the Phlox. Erik and I also planted a tree in out front yard and the smaller birds have taken to flying back and forth from the feeder to the tree. It's fun to have some much activity in the front yard. Erik and I love to watch the birds, chipmunks, bunnies and squirrels "play" around. It's one of our many forms of entertainment!

My first post (of my new blog)!

I am enjoying the summer off from school and spend many hours of the day on the computer. Usually I am working on my Master on-line classes, checking e-mail or messing around on facebook. So, I thought....why not have a blog to keep up with too??? I began one in January but felt that it needed a change so I started over.

I could not think of a title for my blog so I began looking though the CD's at my desk (yes, I still have CD's). I came across some good titles from Pink Floyd but I wasn't quite sure of the meaning, so I went for one from Collective Soul instead!

My blog may mirror my facebook page some but I hope to post more about my gardens here and other things going on in the summer.
